Student Digital Ambassadors at City and Islington College are in the process of organising a series of events to inspire students about opportunities in digital enterprise. They kicked off on Thursday 30th March with Wendy Breakall’s talk “Turn your Passion into a Business”. Wendy Breakall is the Enterprise Manager at Westminster Kingsway College. The event took place in the World of Work in the Centre for Business, Arts and Technology and was well attended thanks to the promotional work of both digital ambassadors and employability coordinators Shabina Sultana and Ravinder Sokhal.
Prior to setting up her own business, Wendy Breakall was the Director of Business at SSR Ltd, a music and media company in Manchester which was awarded Business of the Year in recognition of its growth and development in 2009. Wendy gave a really interesting presentation on starting your own business and students enjoyed hearing about a variety of successful start-ups and how to get funding and support. There were plenty of questions and students went away brimming with ideas!
Student Digital Ambassadors have more exciting events lined up for the College this term including an afternoon at Microsoft, a Cybersecurity session delivered by Barclays and a MakerClub workshop on rapid prototyping, robotics and revolutions. If you or your students are interested in taking part in any of these events, please contact the Digital Learning Team for more information.
